Marcus Thomas grew up on Sand Mountain listening to the legendary tales of Granny Dollar, who in 1923 arrived in the River Park community (near DeSoto State Park) and attained some level of fame.
A retired 25-year veteran FBI special agent and amateur genealogist, Marcus Thomas has applied his investigative skills with his genealogy experience to crack a 90-year-old mystery of the identity of midwife, folk healer, and fortune teller, Granny Dollar. The results appear in his first book, "Witch of the Mountain: The Real Story of Granny Dollar."
