Our gratitude goes to the Mentone Area Preservation Association for their generous grant of $1,500. These funds will pay for one year of wireless internet, as well as two laptop computers which will soon be available for public use.
Please make plans to visit our Rhododendron Festival booth for our traditional book sale. This is one of our main ways of raising funds for the library, which is funded entirely through donations and book sales. We have a large variety of books in both fiction and non-fiction. Hardbacks cost $2, large paperbacks cost $1, and small paperbacks cost $.25 (or 5/$1). If you have three (or four) hours free each month, please consider volunteering. Our volunteer team assists the librarian by checking books and movies in and out, and by reshelving. Many thanks to our current volunteers: Brandy Barrett, Marie DePaul, Jane Faile, Dianne Gilbreath, Dianne Kuehl, Pat Peterson, Mickey Luck, Rhea Pirch, Peggy Pullen, Gretchen Rustenholtz, Pat Scheon, Rita Shirley, and Dianne Tindol. The library has been active with patron use, book buyers, the group of knitters, the writers’ club, chess players, and community meetings. Thursdays are our “quiet” days, so if you want a quiet place to read or study, or to browse the internet, come by on a Thursday afternoon. Our current hours are: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3–6 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. (Coffee and games begin at 9!)
