A summer children's program led by librarian Anne McLeod will focus on fun as kids act out Readers Theatre scripts. It may seem like play, but reading aloud builds fluency and helps students read with expression. Children of all ages are welcome to participate in this free program which will be held from 10–11:30 a.m.
Join fellow book lovers on for a discussion of Prodigal Summer by best-selling author Barbara Kingsolver. The book club will meet on Saturday, June 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Moon Lake Community Library in Mentone (where the book is available for check-out). Everyone is welcome to join the discussion. Organic coffee and hot tea will be served.

Mike Ellis will present “The Magic of Reading” show to kick off our summer program on Saturday, June 15, at 11 a.m. Children and adults will enjoy his high-energy, entertaining, and encouraging program. (Mike's a very funny guy.)
Mike is an active member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Georgia Magic Club. His “magic” has been enjoyed in classrooms, at corporate events, and at community gatherings across the Southeast as well as in New York, California, Hawaii, and Bermuda. Mike believes you will laugh, learn and live differently because of “The Magic of Reading” show he has planned just for YOU! This program is free of charge for ALL ages. Invite your friends and family! On Monday, June 17, at 6:30 p.m., Mentone author Cathy Haven Howard will discuss her books: Spirit Expression for EveryOne—A Guide to Living a Soul-driven Life; Get Your Love On—How to Increase the Power of Love in Your Life; and Living the Truth of Who You Really Are, Book One: How to Live from Inside Out with Money, Work and the Body. When Cathy was asked for her 6th grade graduation publication about what she wanted to be, she said an “authoress.” The solitude of living in the woods in Mentone for the past 19 years has allowed her to write three books and she is currently working on her first novel and another non-fiction book. Cathy will share her practices of using meditation as a method for her writing, as well as what she has learned about the world of self-publishing, e-books, and personal sacred texts. Cathy is retired from a career in child abuse prevention and family support during which she served in many leadership capacities at the state and local levels. She is the founder of Spirit Expression Ministry based in Mentone at Heartwood Sanctuary. There is no charge for this program. Attendees will have the opportunity to buy Cathy’s books. Light refreshments, coffee, and tea will be served. |
