Kathryn Tucker Windham (1918-2011) is somewhat of an Alabama icon, and her book "13 Alabama Ghosts and Jeffrey" (1969), is somewhat of an Alabama classic. (This book has even been used in classrooms to teach Alabama history.)
“The really good ghost stories have some connection with history. They tell us who we were or who our ancestors were. And they tell us a great deal about what life was like at the time…” We’ve recently added this book to our shelves. Thank you to whoever donated it :) Now’s the perfect time to check it out! The library is open Tuesday & Thursday from 3 to 6, and Saturday from 9 to noon. {If you’d like to learn more about Miss Katherine — folklorist, journalist, photographer, storyteller, and author — a simple internet search will introduce you to her.}
