We held our first Community Seed Swap on January 26. Master Gardeners, organic gardeners, and gardening enthusiasts were on hand to answer questions and offer guidance. Many seeds were exchanged, and many were donated to the library, effectively creating our new Seed Bank! Come in and see what’s available. We’ll be making an inventory, so come by and see if anything interests you. If you have seeds that might go to waste, consider adding them to our seed collection so they can be used by others. Thanks to everyone who supports Moon Lake Community Library, including our patrons, volunteers and donors. Our library is funded entirely by donations from the community and book sales; we have no government source of funding. It’s our supporters who make it possible for the library to remain open, and we’re grateful. Over the course of 12 “open” days in January, 85 books and 111 DVDs were checked out; 22 books were renewed. We issued library cards to eight new patrons. We have deleted 65 books from our stacks and added 40 that are more relevant to our community’s interests. Fifty-six DVDs have been added to our movie collection. The library is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 until 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Check our Facebook page or web site (moonlakelibrary.org) for updates or to join our email list. The library is located at 4607 AL Hwy. 117 in Mentone. See you at the library! – Kelly Leavitt
